Lyn Jenkins trained at King’s College, Cambridge and New College, Oxford. He qualified in Ophthalmology under Eric Arnott at Charing Cross Hospital and subsequently became a part time GP, whilst developing his skills as a laser ophthalmologist at Hammersmith Hospital, London and Oxford Eye Hospital. In 1977 he established one of the first UK screening and laser treatment services for diabetic retinopathy at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, where he continues to work. Over the last seven years he has been closely involved in the clinical application of retinal lasers and he performed the first excimer laser procedure at the Arnott Eye Centre for the correction of short-sight in 1991.
Special interests: refractive surgery (PRK), diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular disease and retinal vascular disease.
